Clubbie of the Month – June

Ken Laurie and Jason Broome

Ken and Jason have recently completed the Firefighter Sky Tower Challenge.  This is an annual event with 1000 firefighters (20% overseas competitors) climbing 51 floors (1103 steps) of the Auckland Sky Tower in full fire fighting kit, weighing about 25kgs while breathing air via their mask.  All funds raised go to the Leukemia and Blood Cancer NZ.

The Hastings Fire Station entered a team of 10 for the event and raised $28,500.   Ken raised $16,277 of that total as an individual and took out top fundraiser in the country for the 2nd year.

Jason;s time was 17 mins 51 seconds.  Ken’s time 16 mins and 7 seconds.
